The Seattle Sparks returned from the 2026 San Diego Open with invaluable game experience and a clearer developmental path forward. Competing in the Emerging Stars division from February 14–15, the Sparks faced experienced rosters and, showed steady improvement and several outstanding individual achievements.

Match 1: Seattle Sparks vs Socal Arisers
Outcome: Lost by 10 Wickets (Sparks 83/7; Socal Arisers 84/0)
Highlights:
Batting first on a tricky surface, the Sparks were anchored by a resilient, patient knock from Meera, who scored 21 runs off 50 balls. Laya supported with 11 runs off 37 balls, and Siri finished unbeaten with a quick 8 off 10 balls* to post 83/7.
Match 2: Seattle Sparks vs Spikers
Outcome: Lost by 3 Wickets (Sparks 106/8; Spikers 107/7)
Highlights:
The Sparks put on their best all-round performance of the tournament in a nail-biting encounter. Batting first, Siri top-scored with a fluent 19 off 16 balls, supported by an unbeaten 14 off 32 balls* from Sahasra and 8 runs from Meera, setting a competitive target of 106.
Defending the total, the Sparks bowlers threw everything at the Spikers. They took the match deep into the 19th over, claiming 7 wickets. Wickets were shared between Ria (2 wickets), Laya (1 wicket), Siri (1 wicket), and Sahasra (1 wicket). The Spikers barely scraped through, winning with just 8 balls remaining.
Match 3: Indus Warriors vs Seattle Sparks
Outcome: Lost by 59 Runs (Indus Warriors 118/5; Sparks 59/6)
Highlights:
The Sparks bowling attack fought hard to keep the Warriors to 118/5. Laya was outstanding, taking 1 wicket for 17 runs in her 4-over spell (including 1 maiden), while Sunehra bowled exceptionally well to finish with 1 wicket for 17 runs in 3 overs.
In reply, the Sparks' chase was met with a highly disciplined bowling attack. Airnaya resisted with 13 runs off 36 balls, and Ria remained unbeaten with a fighting 10 off 22 balls*, but the Sparks were restricted to 59/6.
Match 4: Blazers Valkyries vs Seattle Sparks
Outcome: Lost by 99 Runs (Valkyries 164/4; Sparks 65/10)
Highlights:
Facing a powerful Valkyries side that posted a tournament-high 164/4, Sparks bowler Dheetya produced an absolute masterclass, picking up a sensational 3 wickets for 30 runs in her 4-over spell.
Chasing the massive target, Meera fought hard with 13 runs off 15 balls and Ria added 12 runs off 29 balls, but the team was bowled out for 65.
The tournament was a massive step forward for the Sparks. Competing in a national event like the San Diego Open against mature lineups gave our developmental squad a clear taste of tournament intensity. The improvement from Match 1 to the final ball was significant, and we are excited to work on these lessons as we build the future of our club.
